An amazing detour

Today's plan was to begin our trek westward and make a stop in Hersey, PA (The sweetest place on earth!).  Someone up above apparently did not think that chocolate should be a part of our day, and rain pushed us off the road right near a tiny town called Pottsville, PA.  Low and behold, we are face to face with the Yuenling Brewery, America's oldest family run brewery, est. 1829.  Why yes, I'd love a tour!  If you've ever been on a brewery tour before, you know that they are usually a 20 minute overview of the less interesting parts of the operation.  This tour was an hour and a half long.  We got to stick our noses into every part of the process.  They were actually brewing right around us as we walked through. I liked the bottling room best.

There was also a little family / brewery history museum set up.  The Yuenling family look like a fun bunch of people.

And no brewery tour would be complete without the samples!

When we stopped for the night, Pip got to build his first campfire!
