I was warned that driving across the continental divide would take longer than I thought. I was not told how impressive the drive can be. We did tack on an extra hour of driving that day, but I'm fairly sure that it was due to frequent stops. In the east, I saw the trees turn red. In the west, I've got gold. Can't decide which is more impressive.
Standing at the top of a mountain has a way of making you feel very small and insignificant, but the view is totally worth it.
We stopped in a small town in the mountains to get Ricky an oil change this afternoon. While waiting we walked along Main Street to take in the sights and came across something that I didn't know still existed. A mall-less JC Penny. Seriously old school style. I'm liking these little western towns. Parts of them are almost frozen in time, but then you walk past a chinese buffet.
